halcyon days. it might seem like an actual lifetime ago, but 2019 was a stellar year for visitor numbers to UK attractions - and the British Museum came out top. the Telegraph
short-lived statue. Bristol council couldn’t make its mind up for years about what to do with the Edward Colston statue. But Marc Quinn’s Black Lives Matter replacement was down within hours. the Guardian
…meanwhile in London. Banksy’s new coronavirus work on the London Underground didn’t last much longer, with Transport for London saying a cleaner removed it by mistake. Evening Standard

the V&A in South Kensington will reopen on 6 August
World Cultures. the World Museum in Liverpool will overhaul one of its main galleries because the current display is “racist” says its curator. The Art Newspaper
dates for your diary. probably the most eagerly-anticipated London art exhibition in 2020 WILL still happen this year, as Artemisia at the National Gallery gets October opening. Evening Standard
“huge demand”. meanwhile the National Gallery also announce their first two weeks of opening were such a success they’ve extended opening hours. Belfast Telegraph
good news/bad news. the V&A, Science Museum and Natural History Museum announce their reopening dates…but 80% drop in visitors is likely. BBC News
the new must-haves. museum gift shops across Europe are now selling facemasks featuring their best artworks. New York Times
